Founder & CEO
David was the Principal Investigator of the LEIA project at HP Labs, where he and his team developed the core technology since 2011. He led the spin-off from HP in late 2013 to co-found LEIA Inc. where he is now acting as CEO and Head of Innovation.
David had spent his early career in the Quantum Photonics group at HP Labs, specializing in the manipulation of light at the nanoscale. Between 2005 and 2011 he worked on projects ranging from Quantum Computing to Plasmonics and Optical Interconnects. He was also in charge of developing the IP portfolio of the group.
David holds a PhD in Physics from Stanford University (2005) and a BS in Mathematical Physics from Ecole Polytechnique, France (2001). In 2013 he was featured in the MIT Tech Review list of 35 Innovators under 35, and subsequently awarded the French Order of Merit for inventing the Multiview Backlight concept. He is the author of 80 granted patents.
Founder & President, CTO
Zhen co-founded LEIA Inc. in 2013. As the CTO, he is leading the transfer of LEIA’s core technology from research to industrialization. Leveraging his network and cultural background in China, he is also heading the business development and partnerships there.
Prior to LEIA, Zhen was a Principal Scientist in nanotechnology at HP Labs from 2008 to 2013, where he worked on silicon photonic integrated circuits and its applications in Optical Interconnects and High Performance Computing. During his tenure there, he co-invented the core technology of LEIA project and built the early prototypes.
Zhen received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California in 2007, and a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2001.
Founder & President, CFO
Pierre co-founded LEIA in 2013 where he is leading the firm’s finance and business efforts as CFO and President.
He is leveraging his 12 years experience as an investor on Wall Street where he was portfolio manager / managing director for premium hedge funds (Old Lane $4bn, Hutchin Hill $4bn) and proprietary trading desks (Morgan Stanley, Citigroup). His experience gave him invaluable insights on business models, risk taking and corporate strategies.
Pierre holds a MS from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, NYU (2003) and a Diplome d’Ingenieur from Ecole Polytechnique, France (2001).
VP of Operations
Andre joined LEIA in late 2015 as VP of Operations to lead the industrialization and supply chain management of the firm’s holographic displays products.
He has a broad experience across the consumer electronics, automotive and mobile display markets.
He started his carrier in Philips Semiconductors in 1980 and continued to work for Philips till 2006 in several roles till 2003 as vice-president for Philips consumer electronics division. In 2003 he joined the Mobile Display Business unit (MDS) of Philips as vice-president responsible for mobile phone displays. From 2006 till 2015 he continue to work in the mobile display industry for companies like TPO, Chimei-Innolux and JDI. During this period he build-up a deep understanding of the mobile markets, the criticality of innovation speed, the importance of supply chain management and timely market introduction.
VP of Products & Engineering
John joined LEIA in late 2015 as VP of Engineering and Products. He is focused on turning the dream into reality, and making sure that LEIA delivers a ‘Whole Product’ to the market. John has fun developing technologies and then opening up the sometimes challenging path to turning these technologies into businesses. He comes from a history in Semiconductors and Embedded Electronics at ARM, NXP, CodeRed and Cadence.
